    Not much dolphin viewing.

Only saw the fin of a couple of dolphins. Supposedly one on the opposite side from where we were sitting but my seasick tendencies kept me from getting up and walking around on the boat in the wavy water so I didn’t see it. Never found another one. Sunset was pretty though.

    Didn’t leave the harbor.

Well I was told over the phone that on top of dolphin spotting, it was also a glass bottom boat. I called the company specifically to confirm they had a glass bottom, as that was the main goal. Wanted to show our kids the ocean floor, etc. Bought tickets which cost our family almost $100. Walked down to the glass bottom and the windows were lime green. You can’t see anything at all. Decided to just go back to the top to let the kids watch dolphins. We only saw 2 dolphins and they never took the boat close, we watched from over 100 yards away. 2 out of our 3 kids didn’t even see the dolphins. We just sat far away at the mouth of the harbor looking towards the gulf. Waiting. Wondering if we were gonna get closer. Never went out into the gulf at all, they just turned around the other way... read more

    Austin, ...

Austin, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. All of the boats along the Destin Harbor that offer glass viewing panels at the bottom of their boats are called "glass bottom boats." However, the entire bottom of the boat isn't glass for safety purposes. We are sorry if you were unable to see anything through the viewing panels, on days when the water clarity is murky it's hard to see anything especially on a rainy day like the day your trip was scheduled. The water clarity and rough waters is also the reason the boat didn't venture out into the Gulf. The captain didn't want any of the passengers to endure any sea sickness. As for the dolphin sightings, the dolphin cruises are meant to serve as a different way to see the Gulf Coast as well as observe wild dolphin in their natural habitat exhibiting normal behaviors. It's against the law in the state of Florida to touch, feed or harass wild dolphins therefore the boats are only allowed to get so close. We also cannot guarantee dolphin sightings or the amount of dolphin you will see because they are wild animals even though our captains do their very best to give you the most memorable experience they can. We were sorry to hear the PA system malfunctioned during your tour. We hope that you'll give us another try in the future to meet your expectations. Thank you again for your feedback. TripShock!
