Poor decision to take boat out in rough water

Review of Deep Sea Fishing Party Boat in Destin

  • Ryan Davis USA Jun 25 2018 11:44am

Went out on a 6 hr fishing trip on Sat. There were strong south winds which meant very rough seas. Spent the first 2 hours fighting the super rough waves getting out to the reef. By the time the first line dropped I'd say at least 8 of the 30 ppl on board had become sick. The ocean did not calm down and fish bites were very limited. The dolphins were also out in full force stealing the fish off the lines. All said and done there were only 6-8 keeper fish on the boat and at least half if not more of the paying customers had become ill and didn't even get lines out in the ocean. I feel going out in such rough seas was a bad decision by the captain. The crew was very nice but overall trip was a huge waste of money!

Tropical winds fishing charter captain Steve Allen

Captain Allen and his crew were true professionals. They all made the fishing trip a great experience and treated everyone with respect. We hope to fish with them again and will highly recommend to others.

Will take boat out in unfavorable conditions

This trip is NOT for beginners. When I read the reviews it sounded like it would be a fun family fishing trip. The crew were very unfriendly and seemed bothered when asked for assistance. The swells were so bad that you could hardly stand yet fish. I caught a small fish that I could have caught over a bridge and we were an hour out. At one point there were about 1/3 of the passengers that were sick because of the rocky boat. When asked if these were very favorable conditions the captain replied that they couldn’t go out the past 2 days so they had to go out today. I am saddened that they felt like moey was more important than our safety or our experience.

    Weather

Wild ride, weather made meny on the boat seasick including me but the crew and captain still made it a fun experience. The captain handed the ruff seas with experience of a true professional and at no time did I feel in danger even in the wost of the storm. Lots of fish were caught and the crew was very helpful in knowing what was in season and size limits.
